Newly Launched Venture Capital Funds
  1. Thrive Capital has raised $2 billion for Thrive VII, bringing the firm’s total assets under management to $9 billion. The latest investment vehicle will consist of two funds, with $500 million earmarked for early-stage investments and $1.5 billion going toward a late-stage fund.
  2. Eniac Ventures, a seed firm with a focus on New York startups, is announcing its fifth fund totaling $125 million. The larger funds allow Eniac to make more investments, and to lead rounds even as the definition of a seed deal has expanded.
  3. Addie Lerner and Tali Vogelstein have started Avid Ventures, a new venture capital fund for fintech, software, and consumer internet startups. The pair raised an initial $68 million with the aim of being high-touch investors who put money into diverse early-stage companies and accelerate their growth. It took about 10 months to raise the fund — all during the pandemic.
  4. With Ironspring Ventures, Texas gets a $61 million new fund focused on ‘industrial’ technologies. The firm’s average check size is around $2.5 million and investments will range from $1 million on the low end to $4 million on the high end, according to the firm’s partners. That means looking for what the firm called “post-seed” deals.
  5. Columbus, Ohio-based diversified insurance and financial services company Nationwide is expanding its venture capital investment fund to $350m
  6. Boreal Ventures launches $26 million fund investing in Québec’s early-stage deep tech startups
  7. Atelier Ventures wants to bring more influencers and creators into venture capital with $13M debut fund
  8. Construct Capital, a former NEA partner and a former Uber exec just closed their $140 million debut VC fund
  9. Sagard Healthcare Royalty Partners closes $725 million first fund. SHRP invests in approved and commercialized biopharmaceutical products, diagnostics, and medical devices globally. The Fund also provides financing to commercial-stage biopharmaceutical companies and seeks investment opportunities in assets protected by strong intellectual property.
